Valve stem - A valve stem is the port on a wheel that allows the tire to be pressurized. They are typically spring-loaded devices that admit air when the external pressure is greater than the internal tire pressure to allow filling.
Poppet valve - A poppet valve is a valve consisting of a hole, usually round or oval, and a tapered plug, usually a disk shape on the end of a shaft also called a valve stem. The shaft guides the plug portion by sliding through a valve guide.
Presta valve - The Presta valve is a valve (commonly) found in high pressure "road" style bicycle tyres, although it is now used on all UST or "tubeless" mountain and road bike tires. It consists of three major components: the valve body, a threaded valve stem, and a lock nut.
